With 9.4 kilometers inside the Serra da Bocaina National Park, the road connects BR-101,
at the height of Paraty, Cunha and its main access road, Via Dutra.

In part, the route is original from the era of the “Estrada Real”.

The road is well signposted – Paraty / State of São Paulo is called RJ 165.

From the State of São Paulo the road is called SP 171 – Rodovia Vice Prefeito Salvador Pacetti.
